Man trapped under van in Montrose taken to hospital

A man found trapped under a van in Montrose has been taken to hospital.

Police and fire crews were called to the Ferry Road area of the town around 4.10pm.

Two engines were sent to the scene, with firefighters using air bags to help get the man out.

Crews have since been stood down, and paramedics have taken the man to Ninewells.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:

"Around 4.10 pm on Thursday, 22 April, 2021, police and emergency services were called after a 43-year-old man was seriously injured when a van he was working under on Ferry Road, Montrose, appears to have moved and collided with another car trapping him underneath the van. "

"He was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."

"Ferry Road is closed at this time and diversions in place."
