A man has died in a road crash in Angus.

Police were called to the collision involving a Volkswagen ID.4 near Waterston Road, Careston, around 9.30pm on Thursday.

The 56-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating whether the man may have taken ill at the wheel and are appealing for information about the incident.

Sergeant David Farr said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.

"Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this crash and one line of inquiry is that the driver has taken ill within the vehicle.
