An elderly man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a fire at a care home.

Firefighters were called to Balhousie Clement Park Care Home in Clement Park Place, Dundee, at around 1.20am this morning.

They found a small fire in a first floor bedroom in the building.

One resident was treated by paramedics at the scene and then taken to hospital by ambulance.

Firefighters helped care home staff evacuate residents from ground floor bedrooms that had been affected by water from sprinklers which activated on the first floor.

The fire service and Police Scotland are conducting a joint investigation into the incident, however the blaze is not being treated as suspicious.
