Man assaulted in Broughty Ferry

The victim was treated for facial injuries

In the early hours of Sunday, 12th September, a man was assaulted in the Broughty Ferry area of Dundee.

Police Scotland is currently appealing for information about the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 1.45am a 33 year-old man was on Brook Street near to the taxi rank when he was approached by a man, who was unknown to him.

"A verbal altercation took place before the man assaulted the victim, punching him to the head numerous time.

"The suspect then made off westwards along Brook Street.

"The victim later received medical treatment for facial injuries.

"The suspect is described as in his early 40s, 5 ft 10, of average build with dark hair and a short, trimmed beard. He was wearing a black long sleeved dress shirt, jeans and dark shoes."

Constable Andy Masterton from Dundee Police Station said: “I am appealing for witnesses to this incident, as well as any motorists with dash-cam footage who may have been passing through at the time.

“There was also a black Hackney taxi at the rank at the time of the incident, and I would urge the driver to please get in touch with us as he could have information to assist our enquiries.
