Man, 74, charged over 'hit and run' cyclist death

A 74-year old man has been charged in connection with an alleged hit and run which claimed the life of a cyclist in Fife's East Neuk.

Scott Walker, 43, was seriously injured in the incident on A917 between Elie and St Monans at around 7.45pm on Monday 8th July.

He was taken to Ninewells Hospital where he died the following day.

Police say a man was arrested yesterday and is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today (18 July).

Detective Chief Inspector John Anderson has made a further appeal for information.

He said, "While an arrest has been made, we remain keen to hear from any members of the public who still believe they can assist with this investigation.

"We'd like to speak with the occupants of a dark Audi car, possibly a Q3 or Q5, with roof bars, which was travelling towards Elie from St Monans around the time of the collision.

"We believe these individuals may have witnessed what happened, but I'd like to stress they were in no way involved in this incident."

Earier this week, Scott's family released a statement calling for the driver of the car involved in the incident to search their conscience and come forward
