A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with murder following a woman's death in a Dundee flat fire.

Natalie Egan, 37, was pronounced dead following the fire at a property in the city's Byron Street on Friday morning.

Callum Miller, 26, has been charged with murder, two charges of theft and one charge of theft of a motor vehicle.

No plea was entered at Dundee Sheriff Court earlier today.

Miller, whose general address was given as Dundee, was remanded in custody and the case was committed for further examination.

Police Scotland had earlier said Ms Egan's family is being supported by specially-trained officers.

Emergency services were called out to the fire just before 7.30am on Friday, with firefighters tackling the blaze.

The road was closed for a period due to the response.
