Major search operation after reports of man in River Tay

A major search operation has been carried out on the banks of the River Tay in Perth after reports a man was spotted in the water.
Emergency services – including the coastguard, fire crews and police – were called to the North Muirton area of the city at around 2pm on Tuesday 4th February.
Witnesses say they saw a white man with blonde hair in the River Tay – who then went under the water and did not resurface.
Inspector Dave Gibson said: “I would ask anyone who may have been in the area of the River Tay this afternoon to call us on the 101 number if they have seen or heard anything which might assist in this search.”
