M90 crash: Lorry driver identified

A man who died following a road crash on the M90 near Perth has been formally identified as 55-year-old Kenneth Cheyne, from Turriff in Aberdeenshire.

The crash happened during the morning rush yesterday at around 7.20am.

Mr Cheyne was driving the lorry, which was transporting potatoes when it crashed through the barrier of the M90 flyover and onto the A912 road below.

It prompted a huge emergency response, with six fire engines and police attending the scene.

The 55-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant John Learmonth of the Road Policing Unit in Perth said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Cheyne’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage who hasn’t yet spoken to an officer to get in touch.
