Lorry Driver Retires After Lottery Haul
Raymond Storey, from Dundee, said he is looking forward to “living life as he pleases'' thanks to his win.
A lorry driver set to retire next year has quit his job early after scooping more than £1 million in a Lottery draw.
Raymond Storey, from Dundee, said he is looking forward to "living life as he pleases'' thanks to his win in last week's EuroMillions Mega Friday draw.
Mr Storey, 61, has to get up early for his job and found out he had become a millionaire over his morning brew.
He said: "I was in the kitchen making myself a cup of tea and I thought I would turn on the laptop in the kitchen to check my numbers. "I found out I was a millionaire at 6am and I decided to retire at 6.02am.''
The driver, who had been scheduled to give up work in August next year, said he ran upstairs to wake his wife with the news.
He said: "I'm a lucky man. It's wonderful to know that I can enjoy my retirement secure with the freedom to do what I want. I've not decided to buy anything in particular, I'm just looking forward to living my life as I please.
"I'll keep playing the Lottery though. It has been good to me so I'll keep giving something back.''
The EuroMillions Mega Friday draw on November 28 guaranteed to make 10 players millionaires and offered an all expenses paid trip to Australia, Peru or Brazil.
Mr Storey, who bought his ticket at Asda on Myrekirk Road, opted for the cash alternative which took his winning sum to £1,050,000.
