The long awaited Tay Cities deal will be signed off next week.

At Prime Ministers Questions today it's been confirmed the multi million pound package will be rubber stamped on Dec 17.

Scotland Office Minister Iain Stewart confirmed the date in response to North East Fife MP Wendy Chamberlain.

"The Tay Cities Deal has been sat in limbo for over two years. Since I was elected this time last year I have worked hard with colleagues to get it moving and I'm glad to see progress from the Scottish and UK Governments," she said.

"Projects like the Eden Campus Energy Centre at St Andrews University are long overdue and will an enormous difference for our local economy. Now more than ever these funds could make a massive difference, putting investment right in the heart of our communities."

Scottish Lib Dems leader and North East Fife MSP Willie Rennie said: “I’m pleased that after months of putting pressure on the government to have this deal signed that they have finally agreed a date.

“After long and needless delays before the pandemic hit, and now finally after two years, this money will be put to good use at Guardbridge.

“I hope to see that as soon as the deal is signed that the money is released as a matter of urgency”
