Beer gardens, gyms and non-essential retail shops are just some of the areas of the economy to reopen as we take a massive step out of lockdown.

Today has also brought good news for tourism and leisure businesses.

Foxlake's massive blue assault course on the waters of City Quay in Dundee is also back.

Manager Zak Hegarty says it's so important to be welcoming visitors again.

"The idea of everyone being locked down for so long and now be able to open and get people through the door again, it's mega exciting for me and my staff," he said.

"We are lucky in that we are usually closed in the winter anyway but normally we would open at the start of this month.

"So it's almost a full month we've been delayed and last year we were delayed for half of our season."

Jason Grant from Dundee & Angus College was the first to take the plunge into the water this morning.

"Quite nervous knowing that now, maybe colder than I was a minute ago as well," he told Tay News before he took a dip.

"We were in the students last summer, and we're here all week. This is session one of eight."
