There are calls for more people to head to Edinburgh today as the search for missing French student, Antoine Maury, continues.
It’s been almost a week since the 21-year-old was reported missing, with the search centred around the city’s Edinburgh Park.
Yesterday hundreds of locals joined police to help look for him.
Inspector Alan Carson is leading the investigation:
Mr Maury was last seen at 10.30pm on Monday October 24, when he suddenly left his friends at Edinburgh College's Milton Road East Campus. A major search was launched to trace the missing man and police are investigating a possible sighting of him between 10.45pm and 11pm near the Duddingston Village area of Holyrood Park, heading into the park. His parents, Pascal and Laura Maury, have come to the Scottish capital as the investigation into their son's disappearance continues. They teamed up with other searchers at Holy Rood High School on Saturday morning to embark on the fresh hunt for the missing man. Inspector Alan Carson added: "The response from the public since Antoine's disappearance has been fantastic.
"So many people have expressed a willingness to help find him as quickly as possible and I know that his family are extremely grateful for the support of the people of Edinburgh.''
Mr Maury's parents have told how they are desperate to find their son.
They said: "We are desperate to find Antoine and are appealing to anyone who might have information as to where he is or know if someone is sheltering him.
"We want him to know that we love him, he is not in trouble and for him to come home. We ask that anyone living in the area to please check their outbuildings and garages again to confirm that Antoine is not hiding there.''
The man seen heading into the park on Monday, who matched the 21-year-old's description, was topless.
The Police Scotland marine unit and the police helicopter have previously been brought in to assist the search efforts.
Mr Maury is white, around 6ft, of medium build, with short brown hair, a beard and a fair complexion. He has a tattoo of a bleeding hand on his forearm.
He was last seen wearing a brown/green bomber jacket with dark chinos and a white beanie hat. He is thought to have been wearing black and white Vans trainers.
He was born and raised in Paris and moved to St Andrews to study when he was 16.
