Scotland and Ireland are united in shock as we hear human remains have been found in the hunt for missing Glasgow student Karen Buckley. The discovery was made in a rural farm near Milngavie in the early hours of this morning.

The 24-year-old nurse who is from Mourneabbey outside Mallow in Cork was reported missing after a night out on Saturday last with friends at the Sanctuary nightclub west of their Glasgow city centre apartment.

A 21 year old has been arrested in connection.

Specialist police divers, a helicopter crew and search dogs were involved in the search for the qualified nurse who moved to Glasgow in February.

Susan O'Keeffe - principle of Analeentha National School - remembers Karen Buckley as a pupil.

A fundraising page set up to support the family has raised thousands of pounds in just a few hours.

Talking to Newstalk, Parish priest in Mourneabbey Father Joe O'Keeffe said the community is standing by the Buckley family at this difficult time

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The 21 year old man is due to appear in court on Friday.
