Pupils who will attend the new Tayview Primary in Dundee will get a look behind the scenes of the construction of their £13.2 million school and unveil their badge.

The children, who currently attend classes at buildings which were Gowriehill and Hillside primaries, helped choose the name of their new school and assisted with ideas for the logo design.

They will move into their school for the start of the new term in August next year.

Head teacher, Hannah MacMillan says it's shaping up nicely.

Councillor Stewart Hunter, convener of the City Council’s Children and Families Education committee, said: “When this latest new school is completed pupils, parents and staff will see a huge improvement in the facilities and educational environment.

“Continuing investment into our school estate is crucial for the years ahead.

“I am delighted that the pupils of Tayview are here to see how their school is progressing. I am impressed by their team efforts that have resulted in the name for the new school and the impressive badge.”

The works will provide a two storey, three-stream primary school designed for an anticipated school roll of 650 pupils and a 70 full time equivalent (FTE) nursery school for three to five year olds, with a separate nursery area for up to 30 (FTE) two year olds.
