A Perthshire woman is taking to Facebook to try to find someone who can give her the "greatest gift" - a new kidney.

Angie Shannon from Blairgowrie who's suffered from kidney failure since childhood, received a donor kidney from her mum in 2002 but was told 2 years ago her body had started rejecting it.

She now relies on a dialysis machine to keep her alive which she has to hook herself up to every other night.

The 41-year-old decided to try social media after receiving the heartbreaking news that her husband Paul couldn't donate - despite being a match.

The couple had gone through a screening process and doctors believed his kidney was a match but a scan a week and half ago discovered he had kidney stone meaning he had to be ruled out as a donor.

Angie then posted on her Facebook page which she runs to keep track of her journey through treatment appealing for a donor and so far her transplant co-ordinator at Ninewells has received a number of calls.

She's been talking to our reporter Lizzie Parker:

She hopes her story will help raise awareness of the importance of organ donation and anyone interested in helping is asked to call Irene Russell, Transplant Coordinator at Ninewells on 01382 660111.
