After a bit of local rivalry, local fundraisers have confirmed the "Oor Lifesaver" Wullie will remain at the lifeboat station in Broughty Ferry.

They raised around £15,000 to keep the RNLI-themed statue at the pier after Arbroath locals started their own campaign to put him in Arbroath Harbour.

Local business director and voluntary lifeboatman Ewan Philp started the crowdfunding campaign and made the successful £10,000 bid for the sculpture at last night's auction.

He says Wullie will be put back on the pier during the summer months and kept on display in the RNLI station window over the winter.

He's been talking to our reporter Lizzie Parker about the local reaction and what will happen with the rest of the money:

The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail auction raised a grand total of £883,000 for the ARCHIE Foundation's Tayside Children's Hospital Appeal. You can see all of our coverage here.
