There are fears it will take someone to be seriously injured before Lochee's problem with people finding dirty needles improves.
They keep turning up in parks, grass pitches and elsewhere in the community, with residents even coming across them in their own closes.
Tay News has been speaking to local Labour councillor Charlie Malone, who wants to see a permanent solution put in place:
“In Lochee, between April and where we are just now, we had over 700 discarded needles being uplifted.
“That is about three times the number of the next highest area, which was the city centre.
“If there are 700 needles being uplifted in a particular area, that is 700 threats to people’s health and wellbeing so we have to take that as seriously as we take rehabilitation and support we offer.
“That support needs to be provided for the residents as well.
“There are residents in parts of Lochee who are scared to leave their homes or let their grandchildren play in the close because they are seeing drugs paraphilia. They are terrified that a child will pick up a needle or a dog will stand on a needle
“There is a real problem. Unless we realise that there is a danger parts of Dundee are being left behind, we will not deal with the drugs issue in our communities.
