One week on from major flooding in Perthshire, residents in Alyth have been telling us about their struggles in getting life back on track.

More than 90 properties had to be evacuated after a burn in the centre of town burst its banks following a morning of heavy rain.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The local community has since been praised for its resilience with how it has dealt with the destruction.

Steve Boath owns a bakery and a cafe in the town:

Sandy Sarwar is another business owner facing a major headache.

He only opened a shop in the town three weeks ago:

Ruth Fairweather was among those forced from their homes.

She has since been moved into long term accommodation after initially having to stay in a hotel.

She's also benefited from food donations taking place at Alyth Town Hall:

The council has now confirmed it has asked the Scottish Government for help in paying for the damage.

Ministers are considering activating the Bellwin Scheme which gives financial assistance to local authorities following large scale emergencies.
