Lifeboat team rescues man with suspected broken ankle off Fife coast

Volunteers from Anstruther RNLI were called out to the Isle of May on Saturday evening

Lifeboat crews had to trek three quarters of a mile to save a stranded man with a suspected broken ankle five miles off a fife coastline.

The RNLI volunteers were called out to the Isle of May on Saturday evening, with the casualty then being transferred to back to Anstruther were he was cared for by the scottish ambulance service.

A spokesperson for RNLI, said: "The alarm was raised shortly after 6pm and the stations all-weather lifeboat Kingdom of Fife departed Anstruther for the island, situated five miles off the coast of Fife in the Firth of Forth.

"Due to the location of the casualty on the island, the volunteer crew had to trek three quarters of a mile from the harbour to reach him.

"On arrival, pain relief was administered and his injury was assessed and stabilised."
