The Scottish SPCA was called to a flat in Dundee after a pet iguana leapt 20 feet from a window onto a tree.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted when the worried owner called in for help, concerned he wouldn’t be able to rescue his beloved pet.

Animal rescue officer Coreen Hill said, “The iguana, named Sid, had jumped out of the window and managed to land on top of a tree outside the flat.

“When I arrived, I could see that Sid seemed very happy to be chilling in the sunshine in the middle of the tree.

“With the help of his owner, I got the ladders from my van and managed to organise the safe return of Sid back into his enclosure.

“His owner was very relieved to get him back safe and sound where he belongs.

“This isn’t the first time we have been called about an iguana stuck up a tree. “However, in the last case, the lizard turned out to be a stuffed toy which someone had nailed to a branch, presumably as a prank.”
