The firm developing a 3,000-home village in Perth wants around a fifth of the workforce to be young apprentices.

Springfield Properties will spend the next thirty years building Bertha Park, creating around 450 long-term jobs on site.

Work has already begun to develop a brand new purpose-built school in the area, the first of its kind in decades, which will eventually house 1,100 secondary pupils.

The next stage of the project is to begin the first phase of housing development, which is expected to begin at the end of this year.

Chairman Sandy Adam told our reporter, Hazel Martin: "We hope to take on about 20% of our of our staff in training at any one time, so it's going to be a huge opportunity for young apprentices".

The ÂŁ1 billion project will coincide with improvements to the road infrastructure with the introduction of the Cross Tay Link Road which is already underway.

The new road, which will be integrated through Bertha Park, will relieve local traffic congestion and provide new access to the area.
