Jim Goodwin has been named the Scottish Championship Glen’s Manager of the Month after Dundee United’s storming performance in September.

The Tangerines picked up 10 points from a possible 12 with wins over Queen’s Park, Inverness Caley Thistle and Airdrie as well as a draw with Morton to open up a one-point lead over Raith Rovers at the top of the table.

It’s meant an unbeaten start to the league season with five wins and two draws from the seven fixtures played so far as the Tannadice men try to get back to the Premiership.

Goodwin, who is facing a table-topping clash at Kirkcaldy on Saturday, said: “I’m delighted. it’s recognition for the hard work that’s been done behind the scenes collectively.

“I’ve got a great backroom team who work tirelessly during the week to make sure we put the right game plan together for the weekend and then you rely on those players to get the job done.

“So as much as I’m very grateful for the award, I would accept it on behalf of the group because it very much is a team effort.

“It’s nice recognition for the hard work we’ve done up to now but it’s very early days. Nothing for us to get too carried away with. We just have to make sure that we’re carrying on the same form against Raith on Saturday.”
