Investigation launched after racially aggravated assault on Dundee bus

A female passenger was allegedly verbally racially abused on the Xplore service 22 bus.

An investigation has been launched after a woman was allegedly racially abused on a Xplore Dundee bus service on Monday evening on the 24th November.

The bus left Dundee High Street about 4:45pm, which is when the incident allegedly tool place, with both the victim and the suspect seating at the rear of the bottom level of the bus.

Police say they want to speak to any witnesses who were on the busy number 22 service that evening, including a number of passengers who intervened to challenge the suspect regarding his behaviour.

The person responsible is described as a white male, about 30 years of age, 5ft 7, slim build with facial stubble. He was wearing a beige beanie-type hat, a black and yellow Fila hooded top and black bottoms. He spoke with a local accent.

In a statement a police spokesperson said: "If you have any information that could assist us, please call 101 or speak to any police officer.

"Also, information can be given anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 2675 of 22nd November."
