It's hoped a new £5m scheme from tyre firm Michelin will create hundreds of new jobs across Tayside.

The Michelin Development Fund will provide loans to smaller businesses in the area looking to expand.

It comes as production at the Baldovie Road plant will end this year.

Mike Cole, head of Michelin Development in the UK, said: “Manufacturing, engineering or business to business service companies with fewer than 250 employees are eligible.

"It could be companies that are going to the Michelin Scotland Innovation Park or it could be other companies that are looking to move into the city.

"Our aim is to help these businesses grow and create 850 jobs. We don't know how long that will take.

"It might take 5 or 10 years but we are here to make sure we do that."
