A Dundee mum whose son took his own life says any findings published in next month's independent review into the region's mental health services must be heeded.

A release date of February for David Strang's long awaited report was announced at the latest Perth and Kinross Integration Joint Board meeting.

It was launched after a campaign from families who lost their loved ones following a stay at Carseview psychiatric centre.

Amanda McLaren son Dale died days after leaving the facility in 2015, she hopes they listen to the recommendations.

She said: "I just hope they do something, something needs to change.

"I know people say they will listen but since my son there's been other deaths connected to that place that shouldn't have happened if they've learnt their lesson."

In 2018 a fatal accident inquiry found her son's death was "unavoidable" but that there were "shortcomings" in NHS systems which were "relevant".

NHS Tayside says it looks forward to next month's findings.
