Research conducted by professional networking website LinkedIn has revealed Brighton has most people who are happy in their job, with 48% saying they were very or completely fulfilled at work.
Reasons for being happy at work varied from region to region but included many factors, salary, relationships with colleagues and their work making a positive impact all being important.
In Glasgow 61% of workers said that salary is the most important factor about their work, although 67% of workers would be willing to take a pay cut to be happier at work, compared to a national average of 58%.
However in Liverpool 55% of those surveyed said that relationships with their colleagues were most important and 49% would be happy to take a pay-cut to work for a company which makes a positive impact on people's lives.
Danielle Restivo, Director of UK and Global Communications at LinkedIn said "Having a fulfilling job can have a big impact on overall happiness and success at work.
"It’s our mission to help professionals across the globe to find jobs that they love."
The research has also revealed that on average people stay in their job for 5.7 years which is a year less than the global average. Those classed as Generation X (45-54) are the most loyal staying with their current employer for 6.9 years on average, whereas those aged 16-24 stay for just 4.7 years.
