Greenock pair charged with brothel keeping offences

It comes after an extensive investigation into activities at premises in the town

A man and woman have been charged with brothel keeping in Greenock.

It follows an extensive enquiry into the offence, along with human trafficking and serious and organised crime at a property and a commercial premises in the West Blackhall Street area of the town.

The 40-year-old man and 39 year-old woman are due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court next month.

Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie, Greenock CID said: “We are committed to working with our partners to pursue those involved in this type of criminality, with a strong focus on safeguarding individuals who may be at risk of exploitation.

“Information from people within our communities is key to helping us to identify those involved.

“I would urge anyone with information or concerns about exploitation of any kind, to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
