It was gold for Scotland in the both the pool and on the green as homegrown athletes claimed more podium places on Day 4 on the Gold Coast.

In the lawn bowls, skip Darren Burnett held his nerve to steer his side to a 19-14 win over Australia in the men's triples gold medal match at the Broadbeach Bowls Club.

They were trailing 16-14 when Burnett delivered two crucial drives in the 17th and penultimate end to secure a 16-14 lead.

Burnett, lead Ronald Duncan and second Derek Oliver claimed another three shots on the final end to clinch a 19-14 victory against the hosts.

Elsewhere, there were bronze medals for Daniel Purvis in the gymnastics - his second at this games - and Mark Dry in the men's hammer.

But it was swimmer Duncan Scott who stole the headlines late in the evening with a superb swim in the 100m freestyle.

The Stirling-based athlete - with three bronzes already claimed in these Games - beat favourite Chad Le Clos and Olympic champion Kyle Chalmers to claim a stunning victory.
