Police in Perthshire are issuing a fresh appeal to trace missing American tourist Susan McLean.

They now say they've received reports of a woman matching the 61 year old's appearance - walking south of Aberfeldy the night she vanished.

It's understood she'd been heading south on the A826 at around 8pm on the 17th of May.

This person was wearing a dark-coloured coat with the hood up and light coloured trousers and was seen in the area of Gatehouse Nursery garden centre.

Police are keen to establish the identity of this individual to confirm if this was Susan, or whether it may have been another person.

Over the weekend, specialist teams from Police Scotland, including Tayside Mountain Rescue with dogs and officers from Operational Support Division will continue to search the area, southwards along the A826 and south-west of Aberfeldy towards the town’s distillery for any sign of Susan.

Police also appeal for any cyclists, dog walkers or hill walkers in Aberfeldy and surrounding areas to report any information that could assist officers with their enquiries.

On Sunday, two weeks will have passed since Susan went missing and her family remain greatly concerned and anxious.

Police Scotland urge anyone with information to come forward,

“We would like to thank the public for the tremendous support they have given so far.

"As our search continues, we ask that if you were in Aberfeldy at the time Susan went missing and you think you might know something that would be of interest to our enquiry, please tell us.

"It is possible you have a piece of information that could help progress our enquiries. Please call us and let us decide what information may or may not be of value.”

Susan is described as being five feet eight inches tall, of medium build, with short fair hair and green eyes and has an American accent.

"When last seen she was wearing a black and grey coloured waterproof jacket, beige khaki trousers and light coloured trainers.

Anyone who may have seen Susan or anyone who remembers someone with an American accent who matches her description is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or speak to any officer.
