Former director of collapsed Dundee restaurant charged with fraud
Former Brassica co-owner Dea McGill has been charged with theft, embezzlement and fraud
The former co-owner of a collapsed Dundee restaurant has been charged with fraud after an investigation into the firm's finances.
Dea McGill was the managing director at Brassica, which closed its doors last year after staff walked out over claims of unpaid wages.
A police spokesperson said: "A 50-year-old woman has been charged with theft, embezzlement and fraud.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
This is the latest development in a long running saga surrounding the former waterfront restaurant's finances.
Former staff members staged multiple protests alongside unite the union officers in the weeks after its closure.
They claimed they were owed tens of thousands of pounds in unpaid wages.
However last month the union issued a public apology to the company's other owner Dr Rami Sarraf for a number of accusations.
It stated he was breaching a legal obligation to pay workers, however as the company was placed into administration he was under no such obligation.
He's since opened a new restaurant at the same waterfront site, called Brasserie Ecosse.
