Firefighters have rescued a pupil from the roof of an Arbroath primary school.

Emergency services were called to Hayeshead just before 3pm - with parents receiving a text saying their kids had been evacuated.

Fire crews say the child's been passed over to the ambulance service - it's not known if they're hurt.

A scottish fire and rescue service spokesperson said: "We were called by the police at 2.57pm release a pupil from the roof of Hayeshead primary school.

"We got the child down and passed them over to the scottish ambulance service."

An online statement from Hayshead primary reads: "Thanks for the patience/understanding of parents and carers. After an incident (was) dealt with by the police the school will be open as normal."
