Fife Zoo will re-open on Wednesday after a major blaze ripped through the site.

Its soft play centre was destroyed earlier this month - less than a week after zoos were given the green light to start up again.

Staff say they are overwhelmed by community support - an online fundraiser now sits at over £9,000.

An online statement said: "After having our site fully checked after our devastating fire we are safe to reopen to the public.

Our site for booking tickets is currently down due to a high number of traffic but will be back up and running soon so keep a look out!

"The whole team at Fife Zoo would like to thank you all again for your support during this difficult time, from those who brought us fresh fruit/veg for the animals, fencing, water and to everyone else who so kindly donated money to help us rebuild, it truly is overwhelming how kind you all have been."
