Fife patient diagnosed with E Coli after attending scout camp in Borders
The camp was held between the 16th and 23rd of last month.
A patient from Fife who attended a scout camp in the Borders has been diagnosed with E Coli, NHS officials have confirmed.
A second person, who also attended the camp near Selkirk between July 16 and 23, is being assessed after displaying symptoms of the infection.
Anyone who attended the camp is now being encouraged to seek medical assistance if they develop symptoms including diarrhoea or vomiting.
Investigations are underway to identify the source of the infection and steps have been taken to both identify those at risk, and reduce the likelihood of further infection.
Dr Charles Saunders, consultant in public health medicine, said: "Whilst the risk of further infection is small, I would encourage anyone who attended the scout camp and has experienced symptoms such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, bloody stools, stomach pain and fever, to seek medical attention."
