ScotRail said an additional late-night train will run on Friday from Dundee to Perth, while more than 50 trains on Saturday will operate with extra seats.
ScotRail chief operating officer Angus Thom said: "We're delighted to support the V&A on what is a significant step forward in the transformation of the Dundee waterfront, and a major new cultural development for Scotland.
"To help people enjoy the experience over the weekend we have plans in place to help them get to and from both the evening event and the official opening itself.
"We expect our services to be busy so people should plan their journeys in advance, check train times regularly by using our app or the ScotRail website, and make sure they have a ticket before travel."
Entry to the museum over the opening weekend is reserved for those who have pre-booked tickets
