The Eden Project Dundee is running a series of events at the Arthurstone Library in Dudee, starting from today.

The group hopes too revitalise an old gasworks in the city in the hopes of creating jobs and drawing in tourists.

Members of the local community will be given an opportunity to learn more about the proposals and ask questions of the organisers.

A “world café discussion” will kick off proceedings at midday and allow Dundonians to give detailed feedback on the current plans, followed by a series of presentations at 5:30pm by members of the Eden Project Team.

Early signs are positive, and the group have already received encouraging words from the local community.

'Bowled over by the support'

Darren Hoare, Head of Programme Delivery, said: “We’ve been bowled over by the support we’ve had so far.

"We are committed to bringing this project to Dundee, to creating new jobs and to driving tourism into the area.”

The events will also see the premiere of a new film by Laura Young, an award-winning climate activist and influencer also known as Less Waste Laura.

The film will detail the history of the gasworks site in Dundee as well as how the existing Eden Project in Cornwall will influence the new development.

£7.6m of investment

The plans, inspired by Dundee’s industrial history and influenced by the city’s Nine Incorporated Trades, are being developed in partnership with Dundee City Council, the Northwood Charitable Trust and the University of Dundee.

The submission of planning permission will draw to a close the most recent phase of development for Eden Project Dundee, which has been made possible thanks to a commitment of £7.6m from the project partners.
