A planning application for Eden Project Dundee is set to be submitted this autumn, following public consultations throughout the summer.

Three in-person community meetings across the city are planned ahead of the submission:

• Wednesday July 26th at Arthurstone Library

• Friday August 18th at Douglas Community Centre

• Wednesday September 13th at the Ardler Complex

Further meetings may take place if there is a high demand as the project say this will allow locals to help shape the application and "act as a co-creator." There will also be the opportunity to submit online feedback.

The community meetings will also allow locals to hear the latest from Eden Project leaders.

The Eden Project has kickstarted the application process by sending a Proposal of Application Notice to Dundee City Council.

The application itself will showcase the latest work on the project and outline details such as the buildings design, the visitor experience and how the project will enhance and interact with its surroundings.

Darren Hoare, the Eden Project’s Head of Programme Delivery, said: “We are hugely excited to be embarking on a new phase of development for Eden Project Dundee with the preparation and submission of our scheme’s planning application.

“We continue to be bowled over by the enthusiasm for this project from the people of Dundee and we’re now ready to have a full conversation with the city to embed their thoughts and aspirations for the project into the designs we submit in the planning application later this year. We hope that the community is as excited as we are for this opportunity to formally contribute to the development process.”

Dundee City Council leader Councillor John Alexander said: “This is another important milestone in a world-class project which will deliver hundreds of jobs, huge visitor numbers and tens of millions of pounds into the local economy.

“And it’s so much more than that too, with tremendous opportunities for education, inspiration and connecting our diverse communities.

“Although it will attract people from far and wide, Eden is very much for the people of Dundee. So it’s really important that citizens and communities can have their say and co-create what will be a truly incredible facility.”

Professor Iain Gillespie, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee, said: “This is another exciting step along the way to bringing the Eden Project to life in Dundee. The planning process is an opportunity for everyone in the city to engage with the project, which promises to be a major addition to Dundee.”

Eden Project Dundee will transform the former gasworks on East Dock Street and work to create it would see the conversion of the existing gasholder and demolition of other buildings. A pedestrian bridge would also be constructed.

Inspired by Dundee's Nine Incorporated Trades, the project will introduce a new set of contemporary Guilds. They will be underpinned by the perspectives and skills needed for a regenerative future.

The Guild Embassies, both physical and virtual, will be rooted in communities and enable activities that will be brought together and showcased at the main attraction.
