Appeal following wilful car fire in Dundee

Police in Dundee are appealing for witnesses after a blue Ford Fiesta was set on fire in the South Road area of Dundee this morning.

The incident happened around 4am on Sunday, 24 July, 2022.

Officers and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and the fire was extinguished, with no injuries reported.

Police are keen to trace a man who was seen acting suspiciously at the scene, described as being white, slim build, wearing a dark jacket with hood up and dark shorts.

Enquiries have established that he left the area through the grass area to the south side of South Road.

Detective Sergeant Craig Kelly said: “We’re appealing for anyone with any information on this fire, or the man described as being at the scene, to please come forward.

“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 0776 of 24 July. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
