Dundee United have signed Hamilton left-back Scott McMann after selling Jamie Robson to Lincoln City.

McMann joins on a three-year deal and returns to the Premiership after being relegated with the Accies last season.

The 25-year old comes in as a direct replacement for academy graduate Robson who makes the move down south.

Speaking to DUTV, McMann said: "When I first heard the club was interested, I was excited by it and to finally get it done is brilliant. It's a massive club with a great fan base and a great history when I heard they were interested I was all in, I just felt like it was the next step in my career.

"A strength in my game is getting forward and creating chances for strikers with crosses and set pieces so, hopefully, I can bring that to this club.

"When I spoke to the Gaffer he laid out the ambitions for the club and the plans he had for me at the club I was excited by that and it was a no brainer for me moving forward. I can't wait to play in front of the fans here when the stadium is full."

On Robson, sporting director Tony Asghar said: "Jamie has been a fantastic servant to Dundee United and we all wish him well on the next step in his journey.

"He's an academy graduate, been here a long time and he felt this was the right time to face a new challenge. Once we were able to agree a fee with Lincoln, we were happy to allow him to take that step.

"Our philosophy at Dundee United is to develop our own players and bring them through Our Academy to have them play in the first team, Jamie is the shining example of that strategy working. He knows he'll always be welcome back at Tannadice."
