Seven Dundee United legends are swapping their boots for bikes as they attempt to raise thousands for Maggies.

John Holt will be joined by Hamish McAlpine, Morris Malpas, Paul Hegarty, Dave Narey, Jim McInally and Dave Bowman.

Their 75-mile challenge will begin and end at Dundee taking in Forfar, Arbroath, Brechin and Montrose on the way, with the aim of raising £2500 for Maggie’s. Valerie Busher, Centre Fundraising Manager at Maggie’s Dundee, said: “I am delighted that John Holt has got this wonderful team of football stars together to support Maggie’s. I hope that local fans will get behind their challenge, help the team meet their fundraising target and cheer them on, on the day.”

John Holt said: “I was born and raised in Dundee and the city has been such an important part of my life. Maggie’s Dundee helps so many people in this area whose lives have been affected by cancer and the Centre relies on voluntary donations to be able to give that support, so I’m just really happy to help.”

He added: “We cycle fairly regularly, and I have run the London marathon, so I’m hoping our legs will keep going!”
