Dundee United manager Ray McKinnon says it has been a s 'stop start' season so far.

The Tannadice side are third in the Championship, two points behind leaders Dunfermline.

McKinnon said: "A lot of players were at different levels of fitness and to get them all together at the same point was going to take time, that showed in performances.

"But, I think the improvement's been steady.

"That coincides with players coming back to match fitness and playing at their peak."
