Dundee United’s Calum Butcher has been charged by the Scottish FA for his tackle on Celtic’s David Turnbull on Sunday.

The midfielder was originally shown a yellow card for the foul, but a panel of three former referees reviewed the footage and were unanimous that a red card should have been given by Don Robertson.

Butcher has been issued with a notice of complaint and will face a disciplinary hearing on Thursday 9th December.

The 30-year old had only just returned from a suspension when he made the challenge on Turnbull at Tannadice.

Ange Postecoglou's side won the game 3-0 with Tom Rogic, David Turnbull and Liam Scales scoring the goals.
