A Dundee teacher is on a mission to save hundreds of dogs facing death in a so-called "kill shelter" in Romania.

Gail Souter is part of team raising thousands of pounds to save as many as 250 pooches from being put down at the Breasta Craiova centre in the next 10 days.

Campaigners say dogs at the shelter face intolerable cruelty being operated on without anaesthetic and are regularly killed in inhumane ways.

They say dogs also only receive food and water if volunteers provide them.

Gail’s team is raising money to pay to remove the animals from the kennel and place them in private shelters where they will receive better treatment.
