Dundee striker Jason Cummings has been sent home from training and won't be in their squad to face Hearts this weekend after breaching club discipline.

The forward was spotted at an event at the Hydro in Glasgow on Thursday despite rising fears over the spread of the Omicron variant.

Several social media posts comment on the former Scotland international being in attendance at the event, where Dundee United's Charlie Mulgrew was present.

Cummings arrived at training on Friday morning but is understood to have been sent home by staff.

Clubs are on red alert following the rise of Omicron cases across the UK.

Six English Premier League matches have been postponed this weekend and it is now starting to impact Scottish football.

St Mirren have been forced to cancel training after returning several positive lateral flow results, while Dundee have problems of their own.

Manager James McPake revealed they are waiting on the result of a PCR test ahead of tomorrow's clash at Dens Park.
