Dundee's 2-1 win secured an impressive 4-2 aggregate success over the Ayshire side - and a place at the top table once again.
Dundee boss James McPake, who was handed the job after the Taysiders were relegated two years ago, said: "It means so much to everyone at the club.
"Proudest day in my footballing career, I've had many sore ones, I'm not afraid of failing, but I'll always dream as well, and that was my dream."
"I don't think it will sink in but as a young manager it means the world.
"At the start of the season it was my dream to take this club back into the Premiership and now it is real."
For Chief Executive John Nelms it's a great way to end a very difficult year:
"Everything that we did this year was a graft, proper, proper graft, and I couldn't be more proud of the manager, the staff and those players over there."
It was dispair for Killie following relegation with manager Tommy Wright pulling no punches.
"Too many players haven't turned up, and not only in the two play-off games, they haven't turned up all season."
While Wright - who still has two years left on his Killie deal - is now left to mull over what comes next, McPake is dreaming of his club's return to the big time.
But The Dees are back in the big time.
