Dundee rapist sentenced to 10 years and placed on sex offenders register
32-year-old Derek Duncan appeared at the High Court in Livingston today.
Derek Duncan was found guilty on 17 charges of brutalising women in Dundee at the High Court in Dundee in September.
The 32-year-old targeted six different women between 2007 and 2020 and was today sentenced to 10 years in prison at the High Court in Livingston.
He will also be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
With Duncan brought to justice, DI Gordon Patullo from the Domestic Abuse Taskforce, said: "Derek was sentenced today following a three month enquiry carried out by the domestic abuse taskforce. During which he has been held to account for the appalling actions that he has inflicted on previous partners over a 13 year period which until that time has went largely unreported and unpunished."
He added: "He's a violent and controlling individual who subjected his partners to serious sexual, physical and emotional abuse. His actions have had and continue to have a profound impact on many of his victims.
"During that enquiry the full extent and horror of Duncan's enquiry's came to light and I want to take the time to thank the partners and the victims in this crime who came forward. Without their bravery this wouldn't have been possible."
It's not too late. Anything that's happened in the past, absolutely phone the Police, let us know.
DI Patullo also urged any victims of domestic abuse and violence to come forward: "The message is fairly clear that Police Scotland will investigate any reports of domestic abuse."
He added: "It's not too late. Anything that's happened in the past, absolutely phone the Police, let us know. If you don't feel you want to speak to the Police you can speak to our partner agencies, women's aid and rape crisis Scotland."
