Dundee have signed former Irish under 21 international Ryan Sweeney on a two year deal.

The centre back was a free agent after leaving English league 2 side Mansfield Town.

The 24-year-old began his career at AFC Wimbledon before joining then top flight side Stoke City.

He failed to make a single first team appearance for the Potters, enjoying loan spells at Bristol Rovers and Mansfield Town, before joining the latter on a permanent deal.

Sweeney will provide more competition at the back, after Jordan Forster completed a switch to SPFL newcomers Kelty Hearts at the end of last season.
