Dundee man charged with murder after death in Arbroath

A man’s appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a man in Arbroath.

Frankie Melvin, 34, died following an incident at a property in Spitalfield Place in the Angus town on Wednesday.

Jackie Doig, of Dundee, appeared at the city’s Sheriff Court on Friday and was charged with murder.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

The family of Mr Melvin have paid tribute to him, saying: “Frankie was a much-loved son, father, brother, partner and uncle. His loss will be sorely felt by many.

“We would ask that we are given privacy to come to terms with his loss at this time.”

Detective Inspector Allan Thomson said: “Our thoughts are with the family of Mr Melvin at this difficult time.”
