New figures from Public Health Scotland show Dundee has the highest coronavirus infection rate in Scotland.

74 cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours raising the seven day rate to 217 per 100,000 people.

That's slightly above Renfrewshire and Inverclyde, as the number of cases continues to rise across the country.

43 further coronavirus deaths were confirmed in Scotland in the latest update, one of these was recorded in Dundee.

The latest seven day average test positivity rate in the City of Discovery is at 9.2%, the second highest in the country.

The figures cover December 21 - 27.

Two coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Perth and Kinross, raising the latest seven day total in the region to eight.

There've been zero further deaths recorded in Angus and Fife over the last 24 hours, however 10 patients have died in the Kingdom in the latest seven day total.

Nationally, 2,045 new cases have been detected in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 11.3%.

Mainland Scotland remains under level 4 coronavirus restrictions.
