Tay News is taking a look at Scotland's drug crisis ahead of a UK-wide summit this week.

Today we start with Pauline Kinsman from Dundee - whose daughter's home was taken over by drug dealers.

"People praying on her vulnerability, she just couldn't get them out the house," she said.

"They were probably supplying her with drugs to shut her up. I went in one day and there was some guy from Liverpool cutting up drugs in the kitchen.

"My grandson was in that house, I just went bananas, I went crazy."

It's known as cuckooing - where gangs set up bases to carry out their drug dealing.

Pauline said it breaks families.

"I'm not putting myself at risk like this again, I just couldn't do any more," she added.

"It's extremely common. People think 'oh they're friends' but they don't realise how much power they've got over vulnerable people."

On Thursday experts will meet in Glasgow in a bid to tackle the growing number of deaths related to substance misuse.

A summit will also be held by the Scottish Government in the city the day before.

In 2018 173 people died in Tayside and Fife as a result.
