Scotland's electric vehicle network will soon be controlled out of Dundee.

A new firm will take over in July, moving just under 20 jobs to the city's Michelin Innovation Parc.

But SWARCO's Managing director Justin Meyer believes more could follow in the future.

"It could be anything, say between 30 and 40 staff over the next few years. Dundee's been a real success story for us over the years," he said.

"From a personal perspective I initially engaged with representatives of the council back in 2010.

"We've supported a lot of local authorities and private business, as well as Transport Scotland in establishing and supporting the growth of electric vehicle charging networks. "

It's hoped it'll take the number of jobs at the former Michelin factory to 90 by the end of the year, across four different companies.

Bosses at the renewables centre have confirmed advanced talks with five "fairly substantial" firms are ongoing.

Chief Executive Officer Greig Coull said: "I can't reveal their names at the moment for obvious reasons but the hope is we'll be able to announce something fairly soon about their opportunity.

"Our stated target is to have the 850 jobs located at MSIP by 2028. My team would join in me in creating the personal ambition to create those jobs even sooner."
